Step 1.    Cleco the R-1004 halves together and final drill the holes in common with a #30 drill.  

06/15/05  -  1 hour


Step 2.    Make the R-1005 rudder horn all nice and deburred, edges smoothed.  Then final drill the nutplate attach rivet holes and follow this with countersinking same for 1/8" rivets.  Also countersink the the two outside holes as shown in the photo.   Make sure you mark which side the countersink goes on before proceeding.  Check it twice.  

(Also began priming the VS on this date.  I like to bounce back and forth.   Keeps it interesting.)

06/15/05  -  1 hour


Step 3.     Cleco the R-1005 rudder horn to the R-1004A bottom rib half.  Use the C-clamp as explained to hold the unsupported R-1004B half.  Match drill the 6 holes of the horn into the bottom rib halves, using #30.   

06/15/05  -  45 minutes


Step 4.   Deburr the R-1002 spar, holes and all.  

06/16/05  -  1 hour


Step 5. Final drill the holes shown in the drawing, using a #30.  You will have to clamp the striker plates good and tight.  Slippery buggers. 

06/16/05 - 1 hour    


Step 6.   Machine countersink the holes on the striker plate as indicated in the picture.  As the instructions warn, make sure you have marked the correct holes to countersink in the orientation needed.
